What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. The practice was founded by Dr. Mikao Usui—also known as Master Usui—who developed Reiki as a system for self-healing, spiritual development, and energetic realignment.
The word Reiki translates to “universal life energy”:

Reiki is based on the idea that there is a subtle energy force flowing through all living things. When this energy becomes blocked—due to stress, trauma, or imbalance—it can affect our physical health, mental clarity, emotional stability, and spiritual connection. Reiki works by guiding this universal energy through the body to open, align, and cleanse the energy centers known as chakras.
Understanding the Chakra System
Think of your chakras as the power centers of your energetic body. These seven spinning wheels of energy stretch from the crown of your head to the base of your spine, connecting you both to the universe above and the grounding energy of the Earth below.
Each chakra is associated with a different color, area of the body, and set of emotional or spiritual themes:

Crown Chakra (Violet) – Located at the top of the head, this chakra governs your spiritual connection and higher consciousness.

Third Eye Chakra (Indigo) – Found between the eyebrows, this center enhances intuition, insight, and inner wisdom.

Throat Chakra (Blue) – At the throat, it supports communication, self-expression, and truth.

Heart Chakra (Green) – In the center of the chest, this chakra relates to love, compassion, and emotional openness.

When one or more chakras are blocked or out of alignment, you may notice emotional, mental, or even physical symptoms. For example, a blocked throat chakra may manifest as difficulty expressing yourself, chronic sore throats, or a fear of speaking up. Reiki helps bring these centers back into harmony by encouraging energy to flow freely once again.
Why Reiki Works
We are electric beings—literally. The human body generates electricity, and our nervous systems communicate through bioelectrical impulses. Like the circuitry in a house, when energy is blocked or disrupted, it can dim the “lights” in your system. That’s where Reiki comes in.
By guiding healing energy into your body, Reiki acts as an energetic reset. It clears stagnant energy, removes blockages, and reactivates your natural flow. The result? A profound sense of release, balance, and clarity—like flipping the light switch back on.
What Happens During a Reiki Session?
Each Reiki session is unique because you are unique. Your energy is constantly shifting in response to your environment, relationships, and inner landscape. I approach each session with openness and intuition, allowing your energy to guide the process.
My Approach: Intuitive Reiki
I practice Intuitive Reiki, which means I tune into sensations in my hands—such as heat, cold, tingling, or pulsations—to sense where blockages may exist and where healing is most needed. Using this guidance, I move energy through your body, gently opening chakras, removing blockages, and restoring your energetic flow. You can think of it as an “energetic massage”—deeply relaxing, yet revitalizing at the same time.
What You May Experience
Every person reacts to Reiki differently, but common physical and emotional responses include:

Hands-Off Healing
While some Reiki practitioners use light touch, I typically practice hands-off healing, holding my hands just above your body. There is no difference in effectiveness between the two methods—it simply comes down to practitioner preference and your personal comfort.
How Often Should I Receive Reiki?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Reiki is a deeply personal experience, and your needs may change over time.
Some clients book weekly sessions to manage chronic stress or maintain spiritual wellness, while others come in once a month for a regular energetic tune-up. Others seek Reiki only when something feels “off”—they feel stuck emotionally, physically drained, or disconnected from their intuition.
My advice is simple:
If your energy feels off, your system is asking for support. Trust that.
That’s the perfect time to book a session.

What Happens During A Session?
I practice Intuitive Reiki which means I use sensations in my hands (hot/cold/tingling) to open any closed chakras, cleanse them, remove blockages and make sure that your energy is flowing as brightly and efficiently as possible. It’s like an energetic massage. You may experience changes in your breath, coughing, crying, tingling, temperate changes (hot to cold, cold to hot). These are signs of energy moving where it needs to.
While some practitioners physically touch their clients, I prefer not to. There is no difference between the two techniques.
Every session is different as we are always being exposed to different people and experiences.
How frequently you receive a reiki is completely up to you. My rule of thumb is if you feel “off”, you should schedule a session
